Here is proof (IMHO) that the Average Joe can have fairly good TONE. These are some quick & dirty YouTubes I made demonstrating the Box of Rock pedal (by Zvex) using a Strat & a Les Paul. As you can see, I'm a mediocre-to-average player and the recording was done under fairly poor conditions with a small digital "still" camera with limited video capabilities that uses the camera's less-than-ideal built-in mic. The Canon camera is approx. 2006-7 technology. Not exactly the latest & greatest recording technology. DESPITE all the above shortcomings, I think these videos show that, you, the everyday guy, can achieve pretty decent tone without a fancy studio. Box of Rock demo (2008) under less
than ideal conditions; Mediocre player, built-in camera mic, window AC noise,
etc. But the BoR tone is still good IMHO. (Features a guest appearance by my
choclate lab puppy!). Box of Rock demo (2008) under less than ideal conditions but still retains tone. Just an average guy at home; Mediocre player, using the built-in mic of an older "still" camera, window AC noise, etc. This demonstrates the BoR still has pretty good tone in "everyday" conditions IMHO. BoR drive slightly over half; Amp volume 2.5 or 3. | This is a raw, live performance (2008) using the Strat into a BoR pedal into a Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Again, this audio is recorded through the camera's built-in mic. This camera is approx. from 2005-6. Again, not exactly the latest & greatest recording technology. |
